How much does scissor lift hire cost in Victoria? (2026 prices)

By the Be Up Hire team · Updated July 2026 · These are our actual published rates, not estimates
Scissor lift hire in Victoria costs $80–$350 per day ex-GST depending on size and type. The most-hired machine — a 19ft electric scissor — is $100/day. Add delivery from $165 each way in metro Melbourne, and a typical one-day hire lands around $430 ex-GST all-in. Weekly hires work out significantly cheaper per day.

The full cost picture — what actually ends up on the invoice

1. The daily rate — from the table above. That’s the whole machine cost; there’s no insurance-per-day or admin fee at Be Up Hire.

2. Delivery and pickup — charged each way. Electric scissors are $165 each way within 50km of our Bayswater depot; bigger RT machines run $180–$240. You can also tow 12ft/19ft scissors yourself on our $75 hire trailer with a standard car licence.

3. GST — all hire rates in this industry are quoted ex-GST. Add 10% at invoice.

4. Fuel (diesel machines only) — $4/L for what you use. Electric machines charge overnight from a normal power point, costing you almost nothing.

5. Damage — only if it happens: paint, render, concrete or collision damage is chargeable. Normal wear and tear isn’t. Full detail in our T&Cs.

How to pay less (honest tips from the hire desk)

Book by the week if the job runs 5+ days — weekly pricing is meaningfully cheaper than 5 separate days. Bundle machines on one delivery — two machines to one site can share a truck run. Tow it yourself if you have the vehicle — $75 trailer beats $330 of transport for small scissors. Open a trade account if you hire more than a few times a year — negotiated rates on every hire, no quoting.

Common questions

Is a boom lift more expensive than a scissor lift?

Generally yes — our boom lifts run $200–$500/day vs $80–$350 for scissors, and boom transport costs more. If the ground below the work is clear and level, a scissor is usually the cheaper way to get the same height.

Are there hidden fees?

Not with us: daily rate + delivery each way + GST, and diesel at $4/L if applicable. If a quote elsewhere looks cheap, check their transport, fuel service charges and “environmental levies”.

Does hiring longer cost less per day?

Yes — weekly rates are significantly below 7× the daily rate, and monthly cheaper again. That’s why we ask your hire length in the instant estimator.

What does it cost to hire with an operator?

We hire dry (you operate). No licence is needed for scissor lifts in Victoria — see the licence guide.
