Perfect for

  • Ceiling grids, sprinklers, ducting and electrical on fit-outs — electric scissors
  • Warehouse racking, lighting and high-bay maintenance
  • Painting, plastering and cladding with room for two people + materials
  • External work on unfinished ground — rough terrain scissors
  • Tight corridors and doorways — the 26ft narrow at 1.17m wide
  • Sloped or stepped ground — the Athena bi-levelling

Good to know

  • No high-risk licence needed for any scissor lift in Victoria — EWPA Yellow Card recommended and often required by sites
  • Electric scissors need firm, level ground — for anything else, go RT or Athena
  • 12ft and 19ft scissors can be towed on our hire trailer ($75) with a standard car licence
  • Check floor loading on suspended slabs — ask us, we’ll advise free
  • Delivery from $165 each way within 50km — use the estimator above
  • Diesel RT machines charged $4/L fuel as used; electrics cost you a power point

Scissor lift questions

How much does it cost to hire a scissor lift in Melbourne?

From $80/day ex-GST for a 12ft vertical lift, $100/day for the popular 19ft electric, up to $350/day for a 53ft rough terrain. Delivery from $165 each way. See the full rates page or use the estimator above.

Do I need a licence?

No — scissor lifts don’t require a high-risk work licence in Victoria (that only applies to boom-type EWPs 11m+). We recommend the EWPA Yellow Card, and many sites require it.

Electric or rough terrain — which one?

Poured concrete or finished floor → electric (quieter, cheaper, non-marking). Dirt, gravel, grass or unfinished site → rough terrain. Slopes or steps → the Athena. Two-minute rule of thumb: if you’d drive a car on it, electric is fine.

What height do I actually need?

Working height = platform height + 2m of reach. Standing on a 19ft (5.8m) platform you work at about 7.8m. Tell us the height of the thing you’re touching and we’ll size it for you — call 1300 806 577.
